The low carbon content of the ASTM A182 Stainless Steel 304L Flanges makes them non-magnetic within their annealed state but magnetic if cold worked. This low-carbon content minimizes harmful carbide precipitation during welding, thus providing the flanges with especially high resistance to corrosion, enabling them for applications in welding, forming, and other operations, even in the most corrosive service.

Grade SS 304L, popularly known as 18-8 stainless steel, comprises 18% chromium and 8% nickel.
